A Simple Participation Process. A Larger Scientific Question.

OperantChamber™ is the digital experimental environment used to conduct the Operant Engagement Satiation Study™ (OE-SS™)—an experimental arrangement designed to answer a longstanding empirical question:

When a repeatable opportunity for reinforcement remains continuously available, how does engagement change over time?

Participation is organized around a simple, repeatable process called the ReinforcementLoop™.

Each completed loop creates another observable point in the study. Across repeated opportunities to participate, these observations allow the study to examine how engagement begins, continues, varies, declines, pauses, and potentially returns over time.

To participate, you begin by creating an OperantChamber™ participant account.
Your account provides access to the participant environment and allows the study to maintain a continuous record of your participation over time.
During registration, you will review the participation requirements, provide the information necessary to establish your account, and acknowledge the study information presented to you before entering the participant environment.
Once registration is complete, you can access the OperantChamber™ Participant App.

The OperantChamber™ Participant App is the primary environment through which participation occurs.
From the app, you can:

• access the ReinforcementLoop™;
• view and manage your OperantCredit™ balance;
• view your Personal Satiation Index™ (PSI™);
• observe the study-wide Operant Satiation Index™ (OSI™);
• review your participant information; and
• access additional study information and participant resources.

The participant environment is designed to make the participation process clear, repeatable, and observable over time.

Participation in a ReinforcementLoop™ requires one OperantCredit™.
OperantCredit™ functions as the standardized participation unit used to initiate a loop. Each completed ReinforcementLoop™ consumes exactly one OperantCredit™.
This creates a consistent experimental arrangement:

1 OperantCredit™ → 1 ReinforcementLoop™ → 1 Completed Participation Event

OperantCredit™ is purchased before participation and is used only within the OperantChamber™ participation environment.

When you have at least one OperantCredit™, you may choose to begin a ReinforcementLoop™.

Starting a loop opens a structured participation session.

You are not required to continuously participate simply because another opportunity is available. The study is specifically interested in the choices participants make across repeated opportunities to engage.
You may participate when you choose, stop when you choose, and return when another opportunity is available to you.

That repeated choice is part of what the study observes.

During each ReinforcementLoop™, you complete the participation activity presented within the study environment.
At the end of the loop, you confirm completion using OperantSwipe™.
OperantSwipe™ serves as the participant-controlled completion action. Once a valid completion is confirmed, the system records the completed participation event and advances the participation process.

Each completed ReinforcementLoop™ becomes one observable unit within your continuing participation history.

Following a valid completed ReinforcementLoop™, the participation process produces ReinforcementLoot™.
ReinforcementLoot™ is the study's structured reinforcement arrangement associated with completed participation.

For the current study design, a $5 ReinforcementLoot™ unit is structured as:

• $3 corresponding to the OperantCredit™ expended in the completed loop;
• $1 as a participant gratuity—a thank-you for contributing to the research; and
• $1 as preemptive compensation associated with the collection and future potential value of the resulting participation data.

This structure is intended to make the economic arrangement of participation explicit: the participant completes the defined participation event, the system records the event, and the corresponding reinforcement process is initiated.

The final step is especially important.

The study is not concerned only with whether a participant can complete a single loop. It is interested in what happens when the opportunity to repeat the process continues to exist.
Do you participate again?
How soon?
How frequently?
Does your pattern remain stable?
Does engagement increase, decrease, pause, or return?

The study observes these patterns over time.

Your P-SI™: Personal Satiation Index™
The Participant Satiation Index™ (P-SI™) represents your individual pattern of engagement within the study.
As you participate over time, your completed ReinforcementLoops™ contribute to a continuing record of your participation behavior.

P-SI™ is intended to make that pattern observable.
Rather than reducing participation to a single completion count, PSI™ helps represent engagement as something that develops across time.
Your participation today can be considered in relation to your own prior participation.
This allows the study to examine individual patterns such as:

• frequency of engagement;
• persistence across repeated opportunities;
• changes in participation rate;
• periods of reduced engagement;
• pauses in participation; and
• renewed engagement following a pause.

P-SI™ is the individual-level view.

The Operant Satiation Index™ (O-SI™) extends the same observational logic to the study as a whole.
While P-SI™ reflects the participation pattern of an individual participant, O-SI™ reflects aggregate engagement across the OperantChamber™ participant population.
In simplified form:

Together, PSI™ and OSI™ allow the study to examine engagement at two different levels:

What is happening with the individual participant?
and
What is happening across the experimental environment as a whole?

Every valid completed ReinforcementLoop™ begins as an individual participation event.
That event contributes to the participant's own participation history and, at the appropriate aggregate level, contributes to the study-wide observation of engagement.

The participant remains the source of the individual behavioral event.
The study observes how those events accumulate into patterns.

The Operant Engagement Satiation Study™ is designed to investigate engagement under repeated access to a structured opportunity for reinforcement.
The central question is not simply:

Will someone participate?

The deeper question is:

What happens to engagement when the opportunity to participate remains repeatedly available?

Under those conditions, engagement may remain stable.
It may increase.
It may decrease.
It may become irregular.
It may stop.
It may later return.

The purpose of the experimental arrangement is to observe these patterns systematically rather than assume in advance what they will be.

OperantChamber™ provides the experimental environment and the opportunity to participate.
You decide whether and when to engage.
The continued availability of another opportunity does not mean that you are required to take it.
This distinction is central to the study.
The system can make another ReinforcementLoop™ available, but the participant determines whether another participation event occurs.
That relationship—

—is the core experimental arrangement of the Operant Engagement Satiation Study™.

A single ReinforcementLoop™ is intentionally straightforward.
The scientific value emerges through repetition and time.
Each participation event is one observation.
