The Operant Engagement Satiation Study™ is an experimental arrangement designed to answer a longstanding empirical question about repeated engagement, reinforcement, and changes in responding over time.
Participation is voluntary. Before creating a participant account, please review the basic requirements below to determine whether you are currently eligible to participate.
To participate, you must:
- Meet the minimum age requirement for participation.
- Be legally able to provide your own informed consent to participate.
- Have access to a compatible internet-connected device, such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer.
- Have a reliable internet connection sufficient to access the OperantChamber™ Participant App and complete ReinforcementLoop™ sessions.
- Have a valid email address that you can access.
- Provide accurate registration and participant information.
- Maintain only one participant account, unless OperantChamber™ explicitly authorizes otherwise.
- Be able to independently review and understand the study information, participation terms, and applicable acknowledgments presented during enrollment.
- Follow the study procedures and platform rules while participating.
Additional eligibility requirements may apply depending on your location, participant level, study phase, payout method, or the availability of specific platform features.
OperantChamber™ is designed to work through a modern web browser. You should have access to:
- A current version of a commonly supported web browser.
- JavaScript and cookies enabled where required for platform functionality.
- A device capable of displaying and interacting with the Participant App.
- A stable enough connection to complete participant actions and properly record study events.
For the best experience, participants should use a personal device and a secure internet connection whenever possible.
Each participant must create and maintain an individual OperantChamber™ account.
Your account is used to support participation, maintain your participant record, track eligible study activity, manage OperantCredit™ balances, record relevant ReinforcementLoop™ activity, calculate participant-level study measures such as the Participant Satiation Index™ (P-SI™), and administer applicable ReinforcementLoot™ payouts.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for ensuring that the information associated with your account remains accurate.
One person. One participant account.
Account sharing, duplicate accounts, impersonation, automated participation, manipulation of study activity, or other attempts to interfere with the integrity of the experimental arrangement may result in activity being excluded from analysis and may affect continued eligibility to participate.
Participation in the study requires genuine, independent interaction with the experimental arrangement.
Participants are expected to:
- Complete study actions themselves.
- Interact with the platform as instructed.
- Avoid using bots, scripts, automation, macros, or other tools to simulate participant activity.
- Avoid attempting to artificially manipulate session counts, study measures, OperantCredit™ balances, ReinforcementLoot™ eligibility, or payout events.
- Refrain from intentionally interfering with platform operations or research data integrity.
- Report significant technical problems when they may have affected a study session or recorded activity.
The purpose of these requirements is not to require any particular pattern of responding. Participants are not expected to engage a certain number of times, continue for a certain duration, or produce a predetermined result.
Your actual behavior is the data.
Choosing to engage, continue, pause, reduce participation, or stop participating may all be relevant to the research question.
Certain eligible study activities may result in ReinforcementLoot™—the study's participant payout mechanism.
To receive payouts, you may be required to:
- Provide a valid payout destination supported by the platform.
- Ensure that the payout information associated with your participant account is accurate.
- Satisfy any applicable eligibility, verification, legal, geographic, or payment-provider requirements.
- Complete the qualifying participant action associated with the payout.
Where instant payouts are available, eligible ReinforcementLoot™ may be initiated through the platform's payout infrastructure following successful completion and validation of the qualifying study event. Actual delivery timing may also depend on the applicable payment provider, account status, technical availability, and other factors outside the immediate control of OperantChamber™.
Payout requirements and available payout methods may vary by participant level, location, and study phase.
You do not need:
- A background in psychology or behavioral science.
- Prior experience with research studies.
- Specialized technical knowledge.
- A particular level of interest in the study materials.
- To maintain a predetermined rate of participation.
- To continue participating once you no longer wish to do so.
The study is designed to observe naturally occurring changes in engagement within the experimental arrangement. You should not attempt to behave in the way you think the study “wants” you to behave.
There is no required outcome.
Participation is voluntary.
You may choose not to enroll. If you enroll, you may choose whether and when to participate, subject to the procedures and conditions of the study. You may also discontinue participation in accordance with the applicable study terms and withdrawal procedures.
Your decision to participate should be based on your own review of the study information, requirements, potential risks, potential benefits, compensation structure, privacy information, and applicable consent materials.
The value of the Operant Engagement Satiation Study™ depends on authentic participant behavior and reliable measurement.
OperantChamber™ may use technical, procedural, and data-integrity safeguards to identify duplicate participation, automated activity, anomalous events, attempted manipulation, or other activity that may compromise the validity of the study.
These safeguards are intended to protect:
- Participants.
- The integrity of the research.
- The accuracy of study measurements.
- The reliability of participant payouts.
- The long-term scientific value of the resulting data.
By continuing to the next step, you are confirming that you have reviewed these basic participant requirements and believe that you meet the requirements currently presented to you.
Additional study information, acknowledgments, disclosures, and consent materials may be presented before enrollment is complete.
Meeting the basic requirements does not, by itself, guarantee enrollment, continued eligibility, access to every platform feature, or eligibility for every study phase.
